We help our clients think about what they want to say and help them decide who they want to say it to and, ultimately, help them say it.

We believe in the power of communicating. We also believe good design is a key way to make communication relevant to “a conversation". In some circumstances, it aids communication and every once in a while, it makes it possible in the first place.

We also believe in responsibility. We treat the people with whom we come in contact, as well as those we strive to contact, with dignity and mutual respect. Responsibility means caring for the space we share whether it be on a screen, on paper, or wood, glass, plastic or the ground we stand on.

One Lucky Dog

When Party Time Spirits opened up in Richmond, Kentucky it was the vision of one of the partners to make it a one-stop party shop. Unfortunately there was a bit of a glut of those types of stores in the college town. A few years later (and one less partner) it had morphed to a community-oriented craft beer shop and tasting room driven by the passion and interest of the remaining owner.

Now it is one of the only places around to fill growlers of quality standbys and interesting brews alike. Along with a friendly and knowledgeable staff there's also a beer buffet that allows you to select any beer in the extensive buffet to fill your six-pack. The selection of craft beer in the store rivals any in the state and still has the home town feel. In fact one of the locals' favorite things about the shop is patting the head of the mascot chocolate lab, Baxter with one hand as one browses around with a pint in the other.

However the brand was no longer pertinent. This was no party store. We started a rebrand with the name and of course looked no further than the mascot laying on the floor in front of the beer buffet. The branding platform started with a new mark for Lucky Baxter. It grew to incorporate all new collateral including cool pint glasses, advertising and signage.

Appalachian Carbon Partnership
MACED promotes sustainable forest management with new site

The Appalachian Carbon Partnership, a project of the Mountain Association for Community Economic Development (MACED), is a powerful new model for promoting the practice of sustainable forest management on private, non-industrial forestland. This program is the first in Central Appalachia to compensate forest landowners for the carbon sequestered by their sustainably managed forests, linking the global issue of climate change directly to local sustainable development in Central Appalachia.

We not only refreshed the ACP logo but also updated the identity system to give it a consistent look across their collateral materials. We also created an all new website, tied it into their social media and developed an easy calculator as well as integrated their comprehensive calculator to offset carbon emissions. These calculators connect with a shopping cart where offsets can be purchased.

We're extremely pleased to have partnered with MACED in this effort to preserve forests in Appalachia.

Choices for the Future

Berea Independent School (The Pirates) boldly decided to start an initiative to reduce energy use throughout the campus. A campaign was started with a student group and the administration to not only reduce, reuse and recycle but also to spread the word to the students. The goal was to encourage the student body and everyone else in contact with the program to then take the same concepts home and compound the effort to leave a smaller footprint. We honed in on the name Pirate Power and created a look that everyone would notice and could take pride in. The mark serves as a positive reminder that everyone can make simple choices to make an impact. That led us to the tagline which summed it all up. See More
